Become a Group Leader

Commitment: Level 5

Description

During Forum’s week-long sessions, Group Leaders are in charge of 10 students. They facilitate group meetings where participants examine issues addressed during seminars and prepare for the following day’s activities. Group Leaders review the presentations made by guest speakers and other curriculum materials with participants. It is the Group Leader’s role to create an atmosphere conducive to learning, to stimulate curiosity, and to encourage participation by all of our students.

Skills

  • Good communication skills
  • Bilingualism in French and English
  • Be able to work with a group of youth people

Expectations

  • Be available during a whole week (from Saturday to Saturday)
  • Undergo a Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Understand Forum’s objectives
  • Fulfill the strenuous requirements of this busy program (from 7am to 11pm)
  • Take an online training program (around 2h in length) before you volunteer

Forum takes care of

  • Accommodations (double occupancy only)
  • Meals
  • Travels within Ottawa

Forum doesn’t take care of

  • The travels to and from Ottawa unless you are part of the Canadian Public Service (including government agencies, the Canadian Forces, and the RCMP), in which case your employer can cover your travel costs.

Requirements to be fulfilled before January 9th..

A mandatory training and orientation session will be held the Saturday before your Forum session from 9am to 4:30pm.

Become a Logistic Assistant

Commitment: Level 4

Description

During Forum sessions we need 5 to 6 logistic assistants to take care of the well progress of the week. Every logistic assistant has got a special role:

  • Organise the MPs Reception with Forum staff
  • Be responsible for First Aid (requires current certification)
  • Coordinate logistics on Parliament Hill
  • Manage Forum’s social media presence
  • Chaperone students to visits with MPs
  • Coordinate logistics in the Forum office

Skills

  • Good communication skills
  • Bilingualism in French and English
  • A valid First Aid certification (if you’re applying for this position)

Expectations

  • Be available during the whole week of the session (from Saturday to Saturday)

Join the Support Staff

Commitment: Level 3

Description

Whether you did Forum or not, you can help us welcome new students when they arrive, and help with many other tasks during the sessions.

  • Good communication skills
  • Competence in speaking English and French

Expectations

  • Undergo a Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Understand Forum’s objectives

Forum doesn’t take care of any costs EXCEPT meals while you are volunteering.
