New friends, new connections and more!

FYC2016 (483)

Justin, his group and the Speaker of the House of Commons

I’ve lived on this planet for 16 long years, through which I’ve had some extraordinary experiences. However, none of them even come close to the Forum for Young Canadians. From the moment I arrived in Ottawa, I was surrounded by intelligent people who had not only open minds towards everything, but harnessed deep understanding of the world as we know it. As a result, the trip became much more enriched, in that I was able to have these mentally stimulating conversations with people that I hadn’t even met before.

Apart from that, I was able to gain an invaluable first-hand look at how the government of our nation is functioning day-to-day, through Q&As with the two Speakers of our Parliament, a reception with MPs and a breakfast with Senators. Reflecting upon these events, I’ve come to the realization that our country is governed by people with the utmost care for our future. Without Forum, I would have just remembered those people as names on posters come election year.

Forum for Young Canadians is a program unlike any other. As soon as you get there, you meet new friends, make connections, and engage in activities you never thought you’d be interested in. For anyone who’s thinking about participating, I’d highly recommend it, because of the tireless staff who constantly work to make sure you feel at home, and because of the first-rate level of exposure to the government that simply isn’t available anywhere else.
