PART 2 – QUESTIONS

This section is your opportunity to share what matters to you, how you engage with your community, and how you see yourself contributing to the Forum for Young Canadians. Your answers will help us understand your passions, your impact, and your vision for making a difference.

Your responses will be evaluated using our Application Review Rubric, which outlines the criteria and point values used in our selection process. The rubric considers:

  • Clarity: How clearly you explain the issue, your actions, and your goals.
  • Connection: How personally and meaningfully you connect to the issue.
  • Understanding: How well you explain why the issue matters and what impacts it has.
  • Impact: The difference your actions have made—or could make—in your community.
  • Future Plans: How you plan to keep making a difference.
  • Your interests: What you hope to learn, and what you can contribute to the forum.

PART 3 – YOUTH STATEMENT

Forum has five basic rules of conduct:
1. Appropriate and respectful behavior is required from youth at all times;
2. The use, possession or concealment of alcohol or non‐prescribed medications, including drugs, is strictly forbidden;
3. The highest level of respect is required at all times during Forum. No types of harassment ‐ physical, verbal, racial, sexual or otherwise ‐ will be tolerated. No exclusive or sexual relations will be permitted;
4. Youth must be in their own rooms by curfew; and
5. Youth must attend all sessions and remain with Forum staff at all times.

*Permission from both your parent/guardian and a representative from your school or community is required (such as a principal, guidance counselor, teacher, or support worker).

PARTICIPATION COSTS

Selected youth are responsible for paying or raising the funds necessary to help offset the costs of attending FORUM FOR YOUNG CANADIANS

The program fee to attend Forum 2026 is $995. The fee covers program costs and a portion of accommodation, meals and transportation costs. The Rideau Hall Foundation is committed to ensuring that cost is not a barrier for any eligible student to attend. Please indicate below if you require financial support to attend.

Reference

As part of your application, you’ll need a reference from someone who isn’t a family member and can speak to your character, leadership, and community involvement.

Your reference should be someone who knows you well in a school, work, or community setting — for example, a teacher, coach, employer, volunteer supervisor, community leader, or mentor.
